Podcasts of the Week: February 25 edition

I have three this week, so let’s get started.

The special guest for this week’s 2 Mugs FF Podcast was Fantasy Douche. I have trouble calling him Frank. Douche is big on player comparisons. For the rookies, he’s looking to find NFL comps who are similar in body type and speed. The WR Cordarrelle Patterson, considered by many to be the WR with the most “upside” in the 2013 draft, is compared to Louis Murphy. Before you gag, Murphy is about Patterson’s size and ran a 4.32 at the combine. It’s food for thought. Douche also mentioned that guys like Troy Williamson and Darrius Heyward-Bey were top-ten picks at WR taken mainly for their speed. Mr. Douche also compared Matt Barkley, one of the more polarizing draft prospects, to Jordan Palmer. He might as well have used Chili Palmer. Their final “segment” was on the Bachelor and while I haven’t watched that show in years, I enjoyed them comparing the ladies of the show to NFL players. That’s what guys do.

Sigmund Bloom’s Audible spin-off On The Couch is back with draft experts. Chris Steuber of Ourlads and of Alex Brown of Optimum Scouting. Chris loves Matt Barkley, in obvious contrast to Mr. Douche and a lot of people knocking Barkely’s arm strength.

Overall it’s looking like a deep draft without the obvious top players. All three guys admitted that the Combine is as good to watch at home as in person. It was the first I’d heard about the RB class not being so deep. One player Alex really liked was Auburn’s Corey Lemonier at DE. I don’t write about IDPs as often but you know, people like ’em and stuff.

The final podcast of the week is from Dynasty League Football. It’s usually co-hosted by Tim Stafford and Jarrett Behar. This week Tim was the lone host with Steve Wyremski helping out. Ryan Lownes of Draft Breakdown was the “special guest”. One player comment that stood out was his love for Oregon State’s Markus Wheaton. He compared him to a Mike Wallace who can actually run routes. His sleeper was Quinton Sims of UT Martin, a wideout who has nice measurables. I like hearing about the sleepers and late-round guys.
