Scott Fish Bowl 360: Shark Week Division

I feel like I missed the Golden Age of Shark Week, but the fantasy people in this division, they are the Great Whites.

Justin Spear — CommishTalk

Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Feel free to include your Twitter handle.

I, Justin Speer (@CommishTalk2015), am a commissioner. I love it so much I started a site for other commissioners to improve their leagues, CommishTalk.com.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

Considering I don’t know any of them…I’d say anyone with a website next to their name so I can feel smart.

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

Draft a QB at 1.03, which I immediately regretted. Then best player available. The scoring format blew my mind (in a good way). I may have the worst team (in a bad way).

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

Wow no pressure. A talent so special the league will be shocked and awed? Probably sarcasm.

Marcus Katkin — Blindside Football

Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Feel free to include your Twitter handle.

I am very analytical and very into the numbers; they just don’t lie. Many of my tweets throughout the season involve in depth stats that many do not uncover. You can follow me @MarcusKatkin.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

I wouldn’t necessarily say that there is one person I’m gunning for as much as I am just trying to win the division and help put in a good showing for the Blindside Team. One of our former writers, Ty Miller, won the league while writing for us in 2013 and in 2014 I had the highest single week point total in week 1. Just want to keep the good showing going.

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

I was definitely looking to get 2 QBs early. Just like last year, I wanted my flex to be a QB. Luckily, I was able to snag a high upside QB in Cam Newton, and his .25 pts per rush, late in the 3rd and pair him with a safer QB in Drew Brees in the 4th. Then, later in the draft, I couldn’t help but grab another high upside rushing QB in Colin Kaepernick in the 7th. He’s another QB that I think has a great season as they will throw more with their defense taking some hits and seem to be moving more to a passing attack with Gore moving on and the addition of Torrey Smith.

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

I am a man of few talents. In fact, I’m not sure you can call my Fantasy Football advice a talent. All jokes aside, if I had to pick one I would say it is my negotiating skills. I work a Sales job as my regular nine to five so I have to be great at reading people and negotiating. My wife has even pointed out that my 3 year old daughter has picked it up from me when it comes time to have her do something. This is now our typically nightly routine…

Me: “Ok Averie, time for bed.”

Averie: “Um, ok dada. But first how about 1 quick show.”

Sometimes its a quick tv show, other times a couple of books. Either way, she is constantly negotiating. This skill does help me tremendously in trades throughout the fantasy football season.

George Kritkos — Dynasty League Football

Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Feel free to include your Twitter handle.

Writer for Dynasty League Football who focuses on analytics even though I risk my nerd being swirlied by the jocks. I am only funny on Twitter (@rotohack) because I can plan out my jokes in advance.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

A lot of players I respect but Nick Whalen is my neighbor and now enemy. If I don’t take him down, I suspect he will be visiting my house just to give me the finger. I have a wife Nick, that’s unacceptable!

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

Because of the odd rules, I had a very loose strategy. I suspected there would be some “Zero RB” and “Zero QB” owners so I decided to take advantage of the flex spots and ignore position in favor of players who were primary options on their teams or associated with strong offenses.

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

I don’t know about “shock and awe” but I took 7 years of Greek dancing so I am an expert at dancing in a circle.

Persona. As a day time teacher, I try to be a life long learner of the game of fantasy football. When I can, I love to be a teacher of the game @ffootballschool.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

Who to take down. Any answer besides “everyone” would be less than appropriate here.

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

Strategy. Last year I struggled in the qb department. I didn’t remember that it was essentially a 2 qb league. This year, I made sure that qb would be a strong area by drafting Aaron rodgers and letting the other pieces fall into place. Two months later. Jordy Nelson goes down for the year hurting rodgers value. Along with Nelson, went down K Benjamin and today we found out another of my potential starters is going for surgery in Julius Thomas. It has been an interesting start of the year to say the least.

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

Non-fantasy talent. I am a classically trained tenor that can literally hit a high “c”

Dave Pratt — Pro Football Focus

This is for Venturi who thinks I should lay up.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

Dave Pratt. PFF bragging rights at stake.

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

Made sure to get Brian Hoyer (who has the same career yards per attempt as Matt Ryan). That dude has DeAndre Hopkins and Jaelen Strong.

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

I once lost a college tennis match from a 6-1, 5-0 lead because I wanted to win the last game hitting all aces. That probably explains a lot.

Rob Warner — Scout
Tim Torch — UTHDynasty

Can you give me a two-sentence introduction to your fantasy football “personna”? Feel free to include your Twitter handle.

@TimNFL I’m a Dynasty Fantasy Football “Expert.” I enjoy long walks on the beach listening to podcasts, sitting in a hot tub scrolling through my Twitter feed, and my wife will tell you that there is nothing better than long conversations of the dynasty value of running backs versus wide receivers.

Who in your division do you want to take down the most?

Dave Pratt because my brother’s name is Dave and he drives me nuts. So it would be nice to take him down.
Honestly I will take whatever win I can get because I know I am playing against very savvy fantasy football minds.

What kind of “strategery” do you plan to employ during this unusual QB flex draft?

RB early and often since I could start so many, high upside wide receivers (love the Coates pick now), and waited to take my shots at TE and QB.

What is one non-fantasy football talent that would shock and awe the rest of the league?

I am really good at fantasy football. Oh crap, it can’t me that?
I played jazz trombone in college.
